Tropical Green Smoothie Recipe
We all know I’m an oatmeal fiend (just look at my Instagram account if you need proof), but another breakfast favorite of mine is a smoothie/acai bowl, which also have many great benefits. I love them because I can start my day with a serving of veggies. If I want, I can also easily hide the taste of the veggies, but my body and mind will still reap their energizing benefits. I also love the texture contrast combinations. Creamy nut butter on top of a cold smoothie? Sign me up. Cacao nibs mixed in for a bit of crunch? Yes, please.
Smoothie bowls or acai bowls are not only great for breakfast, but also for an afternoon drink. On hot days, this quickly has become my go to treat- I just cut my ingredients in half for a smaller portion. While I still head to my local acai shop for a delicious kale acai bowl about once a week, I love making this smoothie at home or at school. With only five ingredients (not including toppings), it couldn’t be simpler. Do you have a favorite smoothie bowl recipe? What do you put in yours?
This recipe is my personal go-to size breakfast bowl. When I do my afternoon smoothie bowl, I halve the portions.
- 1 frozen banana
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or your preferred non-dairy milk)
- 1 cup frozen spinach
- ½ cup frozen pineapple
- 1 TBSP almond butter (or your preferred nut butter)
- More nut butter!
- Cacao Nibs
- Chia seeds
- Hemp hearts
Put all ingredients in blender, blend until thoroughly mixed, put in bowl, and top with toppings. Enjoy!
